  • Some stewed fruit and perhaps a little raisiny. A hint of green and a touch astringent. Drinkable, but didn't like as much as other Tor bottlings -- 2011 was a very bad year.

  • Decanted for 4+ hours, this wine is bright garnet in color with defined cocoa aromas as well as coffee and cassis notes. The mouth feel was rich but subdued with more cassis and espresso elements. The finish was long in length but left the impression that more is available with more time in the cellar.

Culled from a friend's cellar at a recent dinner featuring Howell Mountain Cabs, this wine needs more time. The distinct chocolate flavors are nice but this wine will continue to develop with 5+ more years in the cellar.
