  • Two bottles on the night and both performed similarly. Granted it is on the young side, albeit not austere, but still this fails to achieve in our view the Grand Cru status. Darker fruit expression of the Pinot, with a light smoky edge at times. Good ripe fruit. A sharp edge especially on the finish and a light touch of green. A good wine, very enjoyable but just not up there with its neighbours. Don't overpay. 91

  • Hugely masculine Burgundy. Popped and poured at restaurant and drank over 3 hours and had a interesting evolution.

Nose started off as massively big black fruits, cut leaves, light oak, a little scorched earth. This evolved after about 2 hours into a much more elegant wine with light red fruits, earth, forest floor, and truffles.

Taste was similarly dichotomous. With bid black fruits, light tar, dark deep earth, and a long, long black fruit finish with some tannins and a big hit of alcohol. This changed to something much more elegant with red and light black fruits, deeper earth flavors, some bitter herb, mushroom and a nice red fruit finish. Alcohol calmed down someone but was still hot.

Wait 5 more years, decant 1+ hr for now.
