  • Dena's Birthday Dinner Part 2 with Mom, Steve & Barb at Guglhupf. AP#13-72. JJ Prum Graacher Domprobst??? I purchased this wine at auction having been advertised as a Graacher Himmelreich. After the auction I was informed of a mistake in the catalog and that this was actually from Domprobst. I worried of it being a fake as I never heard of such a thing. After consulting a master of all things Prum - Jean Fisch of Mosel Fine Wine Report - I learned that Prum used to own some vines in a prime part of Domprobst that he later sold/traded for some of his current holdings and that what I had should be a real gem in addition to being an oddity and a rarity. Dark yellow in the glass, I would have liked to have served this a little warmer that I did and hindsight tells me a little decanting time ( maybe an hour ) would have benefited the wine as it got better and better with time in the glass. Well developed but far from tired. A very interesting wine from both an enjoyment standpoint as well as an analytical standpoint as it showed as a JJ Prum with the delicate touch and sophistication of Dr. Prum's other wines was evident but the terroir imprint was clearly different from the other Prum holdings. A joy to share and one to look forward to having again. 50+13+13+8.5+8.5 = 93
