  • In really good shape right now. Oak is well integrated and the primary flavors are turning tertiary dried fruits. Giving major creme brulee vibes too. Delicious stuff!

  • We are big fans of this winery and have been club members for many years. We are less familiar with this selection but enjoyed it very much. It is certainly more delicate and refined than their main chardonnay. But as the wine opened up and warmed up a bit, it really showed the underlying complexity and phenomenal balance we've come to expect from Rombauer wines.

  • Very good, but not as rich and full as their regular chard at less than half the price. Only slight buttery-oaky aroma and flavor. We like more of it. Will enjoy but don't plan to buy more.

  • With pan-fried flounder at home. Tasted alongside Rombauer's 2012 Carneros chardonnay, our perennial favorite, which we buy for $28 (this was $65 from the winery...just 130 cases produced). This was pale yellow, paler than the more golden Carneros. This had a nice, pronounced chardonnay aroma at first, with just a touch of oak. Quite viscous and mouth-coating, good balanced fruit flavors, medium aftertaste. However, a last glass several hours later had completely lost its aroma and fruit and just tasted bitter on the back of the palate. The Carneros, by contrast, maintained a pronounced buttery-oaky complex aroma, was just as viscous as Home Ranch, had plenty of flavor, balance, and an excellent aftertaste. We were very surprised by this comparison, since the $28 high-production Carneros was still our clear favorite over the doubly-priced Home Ranch, which totally faded after a few hours. We'll stick with the Carneros!

  • Nice and crisp. Quite different from the standard Rombauer. nice change, but still prefer the standard.
