Tried this 18 months ago and it was very austere and brawny. But now it's blossomed into something of a beauty. Not much length or concentration but plenty of delicate cherry and redcurrant fruit combining with gentle, savoury hedgerow flavours. Elegant and balanced. Good value at under £11.

Exceptional value for money from this entry level Drouhin AC Bourgogne Rouge. How they get this density of pure raspberry fruit at 62Hl/Ha is a wonder. Bright red fruit on the nose with some savage notes adding a touch of complexity to an otherwise fresh and pure wine. The taste is light, fruit driven but again with satisfying savoury notes. After so many recent disappointments with fine premier and grand cru Burgundies, it's a pleasant surprise to drink something so refreshing for under £11.

Bottle variation? Not at all as good as the stunning first bottle. A bit flat.
