I decanted this for 15 minutes in our mad scramble to get dinner on the table, which wasn't quite enough time for it to realize its potential. It softened up nicely in the glass by the end of dinner. Also, it was a great pairing with our dinner: beef tenderloin, lobster tail, sauteed mushrooms, and roasted potatoes. Delicious! It's not a super inky shiraz - it looks more like a cab in the glass. On the nose, I got a prominent earthy smell with some vanilla and chocolate notes. Not very fruit forward to me but it's possible there were blueberry notes which I didn't pick out. On the tongue, it was dry and a bit tannic at first, which developed into a spicy finish. After some time in the glass, it was nice and velvety. I can see why people highly rate this shiraz - it's grownup and has a nice bouquet, managers to be dry without being too dry, and has a nice velvety softness after some time to open up. At the price, it's a steal.

Massively full of fruit. Good value for money given the very low price, but a bit too overpowering for my tastes.
