  • Drank a bottle at Elway's restaurant in Cherry Creek, Denver, on the recommendation of the somm for a great steak wine in the $100 pricepoint (restaurant pricing). Very nice wine enjoyed by all at the table. Dark red in color, with some spice notes from the Petit Verdot and good fruit. The Merlot gives it the nice velvetiness you would expect, and it has the Italian acidity to balance... with moderate tannins. Not quite enough tannins to really be the perfect steak wine and just missing a bit of the body that a wine with cab sauv in it would have. Still very nice, complex, showing well right now.

  • Unfortunately another cork taint. Great spicy Petit Verdot fruit, chocolate and graphite, lush and well-balanced but hard to rate and fully enjoy with that cork taint.
