  • Very powerful acidity that counterbalances whatever residual sugar is here…you can feel the weight of the sweetness on the palate but the overwhelming effect is of biting into a grapefruit. There’s a good initial burst of complexity on the nose but the palate is still a bit closed. Maybe this needs a little more air, or more time in the cellar. This is the first I’ve sampled of three purchased and I may have opened too soon. I’ve found that Immich-Batterieberg wines can take a long time to come out of their closed period, particularly in acidic vintages, and wines that seem one-note and slightly shrill in their youth can unfold into real beauties with patience…we will see.

  • Unfortunately my last bottle. Drunk over 5 days. Not even close to its peak. Consistent with my previous notes. Great PQR.

  • On the nose, floral fruits and wet concrete on a hot summer day. Opens fruity, but then a nice acid streak down the middle, tart mouthfeel. We had this with the season's first salmon, perfect, and, as a Riesling, probably lots of life ahead of it.

  • Colorful Tasting with friends (Private Location): The wine was opened on Monday, but still very fresh. Nice mix of ripe yellow fruit mixed with a slightly grapefruit component, hint of exotic & honey and this typical slate touch on the nose. Zingy acidity, not 100% dry but the sugar gives this wine more depth. Good length.

  • Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah & Riesling
    Drunk over 3 days.
Clear, medium-pale golden color. Clean, medium+ - pronounced, fascinating nose with complex aromas of yellow stone fruit and citrus fruits, honey, blossoms and slate.
This wine is really fascinating and it seems it is getting better and better. Dry(ish), medium+, well integrated acidity. Medium- alcohol (11,5% abv), but never to light. Medium+ intense flavors of herbs, white peaches, gooseberry, grapefruit, salt and slate. Everything lingers on during the medium+ finish. This wine has grip, tension, is juicy and joyful to drink, very focused and precise. It has a bright and pleasant future ahead with potential of at least 5+ years of further development. Excellent PQR.
