Poured a control glass and decanted tge rest. Drank over 3 hours. Very smooth. Mostly integrated tannins but not completely. Dark crimson color. Was great with grilled steak.

Bought this 9 years ago for $35 when Robert Parker gave it 94 pts. His notes said let this sit for 10 years which I did and then some. I drank a few bottles of this around the 5 year mark and was met with a wall of Tannins and haven't touched a bottle since. This bottle kind of got lost in the cellar as my bottle count increased. The tannins have now fully resolved but for my palate this is now to earthy with the tertiary flavors dominating the fruit.
This was a ruby colored wine with a dominant nose of earth and tobacco. On the palate cassis, blackberry, earth, mocha, and tobacco. While I can appreciate the transition this wine has made I probably missed my personal window 3 years ago. I don't mind some earthiness in my wine but I like it as an accent not one of the dominating flavors. Old school wine drinkers might find this wine in their wheelhouse. Still this wine was well made. If you have some I would drink up.

No rush to drink. A decant helped, it continued to open up for a couple hours, after several, tannins came to the fore

rose petals on the nose, short decant seems ok, has time.
