  Nice citrus. Refreshing wine at a nice price of near $10.

  Originally the Lurton brothers were planning to plant Chardonnay, but the vines that arrived from France were Pinot Gris, so they had to either plant Pinot Gris instead of Chardonnay or then send the vines back and miss out the harvest. They opted to go with Pinot Gris instead of Chardonnay.
  
  Rather neutral, pale green color. A little reticent nose with youthful, somewhat ripe aromas of vague herbal greenness and hints of pear. On the palate the wine is more like a German Pinot Gris (Grauburgunder) than an Italian Pinot Grigio with ripe, and juicy sunny fruit flavors of apricot-driven yellow stone fruits, spice, some soft red apple and a hint of dried herbs. Quite full-bodied with rather modest acidity - as the wine gets warm, it starts to get too soft and heavy. The finish is quite long and rich with flavors of overripe apple, some apple jam, a little pineapple-driven exotic fruit and a hint of spiciness.
  
  A decent, rich and fruit-forward Pinot Gris with rather low acidity so typical of the variety. Due to the low acidity, I suggest serving the wine well chilled, pushing the acidity up a little. Nothing special. Worth its price at 11,99€.
