  • Wow - very cool wine. I'm so glad I gave it the time in the seller that I did. This wine has evolved into something very rare and unique and with no downside. Only improvement. The fruit is still intact and fresh, but lots of cool secondary aromas have added to the choir. My drinking companion and I agreed that in a blind tasting we'd probably guess it was either a Chardonnay or even a white Chateauneuf du Pape.

Apple, apricot, ripe pear, marzipan, fresh saline air, key lime pie including the crust which speaks towards a slight graham cracker/cinnamon aspect. Utterly complex and evocative.
The acidity is still lively but rounded off and there's a certain creaminess to the mouth feel but not unctuousness or flabiness.

You do pick up on a little oxidation on the finish that is reminiscent of perhaps bruised apple. Not distracting though. There's also a little nuttiness in the finish and of course a tenacious zippy acidity..

Feel like this would pair well with seafood, oysters, sushi, creamy cheeses, or something creamy and rich like an onion tart.

If you have any of this wine from subsequent vintages, recommend keeping one or two until they are 8 to 10 years old.

  • Reticent nose. Lemon and lees treatment come through with a zippy acid driven finish. Nice body and texture, but has some initial astringency. Well made and delicious. Excellent value.

  • High toned citrus nose with focused ripe greengage fruit and silverly acidity. Hints of white flower, pineapple, and slight chardonnay-like flintiness. Long limy finish. Some feather-light sweet amino acid out of sur-lie adds beautiful balance to the naked fruits. Rich honeyed body with great elegance. As it warmed up, it gaind another layer of meursault-like smoky-quince.
