  • At more than ten years old, the color is, surprisingly, quite vibrant and only showing a hint of brown aging. It might be a touch cloudy, but this could be more sediment than anything flawed. The nose is lively with tobacco, cedar, wet leaves, tanned leather in addition to raspberry and plum. And there is also a hint of Brett. The palate has a fruit filled attack - tart fruit like sour cherry and, again raspberry. There isn't much tannic structure - mouthfeel is a little light, and the acid level is a bit prominent. The finish is long and flavourful, with the sour cherry fading into the original tobacco/cedar flavors first noted on the nose. I'm expecting this to go very nicely with our dinner of roasted pork loin over risotto with a wine and mushroom sauce. And I'll bet this improves into tomorrow.
