Work Wine Tasting - Vintage Pairs (Home): This has improved no end since last tasting it. Nicely Nuits, a good mix of cherry fruit, more mature meaty aromas and a touch of solidity. Nicely balanced. Served alongside a Porrets st georges and not disgraced though the 1er was ahead as expected in terms of weight, density and complexity. ***

An intese nose of cherry fruit, slight hints of varnish and meaty aromas. Still quite taut, crisp fruit with acidity and tannin. A little too tight and unyeilding at the moment to be fun - given a squirt of nitrogen and re-corked. *(**) Will try again in 48 hours. A 90 NSG Porets opened instead.

Possibly heat damaged - cork protruding slightly. Mid ruby with hints of garnet. Initially acidic, wth a dry tanic finish, though coming more into balance with food. After a while the NSG rotting meaty flavours coming through. Reasonable length. OK, not sure whether to leave a bit or whether bottle was out of condition. Quite good but nothing more.
