Magnum Man Cellar Depletion (Northfield, IL): Would be drinkable even though somewhat past its peak, but not worth drinking amongst tonight's plethora of better wine. Mostly Cabernet.

Clear dark red/black opaque core of moderate intensity - Youthful looking wine Clean nose of dark stone fruit (plum, black cherry) of moderate intensity with a brooding intensity. Complex but still very young primary aromas. Dry wine with youthful flavours of plum, cedar, blackberry, and cherry. Moderate and well balanced acid, mod tannins that are fully resolved, moderate alcohol and mod body. The finish is moderate to long in length with fruit and smooth cedar/pencil shavings at the end. This is a very elegant and well balanced wine that is fully resolved but still tastes and smells youthful. Drink now - it won't develop any more so enjoy it for what it is.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL): Tasted double blind. Elegantly styled and balanced in a Bordelaise manner. Moderate weight but everything fits together. Much fresher and better vs another bottle from a different source last year.

Mostly 1987 Cabernet Sauvignons (Hi-Time Wine Cellars, Costa Mesa, Ca.): Big, sweet/sour fruit in the mouth, nice fruit, medium body, intense and rich fruit on the palate.
