  I had no idea what to expect opening this wine as I thought it might be well past it's prime. First note is how wrong I was! The wine was full and really quite lively and balanced. Quite a surprise - opaque, deep dark red and slightly barky in color. Fantastic nose with plenty of dark fruit, spice, with hints of herb and tobacco. Medium bodied and on the palate it showed plenty of complexity leaning to a masculine side with cigar, sweet earth, currents, raspberrieses, and even hints of maple. Finishing long with lingering minerals and spice.
