We just opened this bottle tonight. Aromas of pepper and leather (first time I've been able to actually smell leather in a wine, that makes me happy), robust dark flavors are balanced by a nice fruitiness, perhaps blackberry. It had a long finish. Enjoyable wine contains the following grapes (from the label): 40% Touriga Nacional, 30% Castelao and 30% Trincadeira. It is serendipitous that I just finished reading "Night Train to Lisbon" last night. I don't remember Gregorius or Prado talking much about wines in the novel, but if this Casaleiro is a representative example of a Portuguese wine, then we'll have to buy more wine from Portugal in the future.

Dark reddish-magenta color. Darker than red, but not purple, Violet around the rim. Hints of raspberry ganache aromas. Some underbrush herb. Creamy with plum-like fruit, like a ‘creamsavers’ candy. Light body with decent character. Slightly tart finish keeps the wine interesting. More sour after a few hours.

Black fruit on a reserved nose. Nicely made, balanced, silky, but the fruit held up, while the structure did not. Waited too long on this one.

Definitely NOT the 90 point wine that WE rated. Good solid Portuguese wine... Drinks nicely, flavors are still fresh and lively

A bit harsh on first taste. Rich tannins, followed by subtle notes of black cherry. Disappointingly brief finish.
