Consumed over 2-3 hours. Baked apples, buttery pie crust, and a dense, slightly funky floral nose at first. Later on, mulling spice notes became more prominent, and by the end of the bottle it seemed to have more of a poached pear character, with a subtle whiff of something like petrol or nail polish. Nice acidity throughout, and probably would have been nice with a fruity dessert or cheese plate. Seems like it might have some life to it, but I'm not sure it will improve.

Deep golden; pineapples, mangos, limes, peaches; sweet, citrusy, viscous, medium-full body, good acidity, long finish. Rich tropical flavours. Just needed a bit more complexity to put it over the top. Paired deliciously with fruit cocktail and soft cheeses.

L'Aventure Optimus Vertical (Allan's House): The nose is deliciously rich, fat, and complex. Most notable are heavy petrol and apricot aromas, followed by a melange of other fruits and spices. Very racy acidity makes the palate very lively. At this point, the palate does not quite live up to the nose's promise of weight and complexity, and on the whole seems a bit dissonant (maybe this will change with time?). Nice finish.
