Rieslingfeier 2017; 2/17/2017-2/18/2017 (NYC): Drank at Rieslingfeier dinner - from 750 - my contribution - great to get to try this again, and share it with Cornelius and the others. dark color, but incredibly youthful with apricot, flowers, and sweet spice. incredible acid and crazy long finish.

Han Dynasty/Le Bec Fin Collaboration (Le Bec Fin Philadelphia): An absolutely stellar wine. This probably will be my wine of the year, after all is said and done. The best Eiswein I've ever had, and it can only be Donnhoff. We were all a touch surprised by the deeper orange color for such a young wine, relatively speaking. However, the pure concentration of apricot, caramel and a touch of mocha was outstanding. Orange marmalade as well. After some time in the glass, this takes on even more complexity. What makes a wine like this so impressive is the way the concentrated and dense sweet notes are completely in balance with the amazing acidity.

Han Dynasty / LeBec Fin Collaboration (LeBec Fin, Philadelphia PA): this bottle was surprisingly developed in color -- orange. it was still developing, with insane concentration of apricot and marmalade fruit and a lush mouthfeel that carries onto a long long finish. some white pepper is also there and was more prominent after 30 minutes open. Perhaps most impressive is the acid -- this almost makes you drool the acid is so sharp -- it is difficult to perceive because of the outstanding balance with the sugar. insanely good, and i may have underrated this. still, i dont think it is up to the caliber of the best donnhoff eisweins i have had. a bargain at the price i paid.
