Sweetness, fruit, balance, and a firm, authoritative acidity on the finish - everything I like about Wiliams Selyem. Drinking very well - I won’t say at peak because I don’t have enough experience with very old Willie.
From winery at release, consumed in mid-60s. Relatively youthful medium ruby, fades to a watery rim. Leggy. Plenty of nose: high-toned, gentle, ripe cherry, floral, fairly youthful. Palate of ripe red fruits, RC cola, medium+ body, medium+ acidity, still slightly sappy. 13.7%. Non-zero residual sugar?
Long finish echoes sweet cherry and RS. Reminiscent of a five-year good-level village Burgundy. Nice, worthwhile, aging slower than expected, but not profound or complex, even with Coltrane playing in the background.

This is the best WS Pinot for my taste that I have had in a long time. So balanced, with spicy fruit and earthy minerality. I have continued to buy the unoaked Chardonnay in more recent vintages, but am going to get back on the Pinot train for new releases of this wine.
