Finally got around to opening a half bottle that had been sitting on the to-drink shelf forever, was surprised to see the 2012 date. And even more surprised with how delicious this was. Still in excellent balance, flavors great through the finish. What a value!

Dönnhoff Eiswein (2009-11) et al. (Chicago, IL): A solid bottle of Vouvray. The nose still strikes me as a little high-toned, showing some aldehydic almond bitterness, which also shows up on the palate. This is a fairly clean example of chenin, not showing any funky animale aromas or flavours either. There is a tinge of sweetness, perhaps from the fruit, on the palate, but this is certainly in the dry wine camp.

Beautiful wine that really opened up with the food. Medium bodied demi-sec with very well integrated acidity, a touch of honey and a solid finish. Drank over three days. Didn't get better, but didn't decay either. Great value.

Constrained but terrific lemon acidity, with hints of lime, green apple, pear, and honeydew. Long enjoyable finish.
