  • Dull brick red... showing its age and maturity.
Nose was okay to fair when opened. Next day better. (Vacu-vinned to preserve it somewhat)... three days later the nose was bigger, more complex and very pleasant - in an aged barbaresco way: dried roses, in measure, but also other components, some VA aromas in teh nose, too.
In the mouth it was not too impressive the first night. Later it was better, with some slight typical flavors and fairly good acids. Went well with chicken alfredo.
Better in the nose than the mouth, and balance was a bit off, but not bad. Enjoyable as an older, mature wine. You won't find lush fruit here now. Tannins were faded though so it was easy to drink and good with some after dinner reggiano and peccorino with truffle.

  • Very boring and flat on the palate. Decent nose but that is about all it had going for it. Glad I didn't pay much and I'm glad I only have one more. It may become cooking wine.
