Absolutely loved this wine for its elegant palate, freshness and above all, wonderfully fragrant nose. There are the greens that belong to 2004 but not in a harsh way, more in a well judged whole cluster way. Mature, but holding well still.

I did not expect a 2004 to be like this... Wow! It's so lively, fresh and intriguing! I would have guessed it was quite a bit younger.
Very cloudy in color almost looking like a natural wine.
Such intense aromas of fresh red berries with just a tad of darker ones, well-integrated oak and vanilla, a bit of smoke, forest floor, mushroom, red meat and this kind of medicinal eucalyptus note as well. Wonderful acidity!

2004 is below average vintage, but Denis Mortet still succeed in making a very decent Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru. The bouquet is revealing a gorgeous oak casket aroma mixed with smoke, animal note and a bit of Vanilla. When tasting the wine it hits the palate with a smooth and silky expression, revealing a medium body wine with average complexity with well integrated casket resulting in smoke, animal note, mineral and a hint of Vanilla. This is the typical features for a Denis Mortet and he is one of my favorites producers in Bourgogne.
