Reading ARCH57's review made me very sad that this bottle had not held up so well. I found several bottles that had been on the shelf in a store until mid 2011 and I got them at a severely distressed price....so no big loss. I laid them down in my cellar for a couple years to allow them to "settle down" The wine was well beyond its time but still drinkable. The color was a lovely light-medium gold with a bright yellow rim. The nose was a wonderful nutty butterscotch. The flavor was that nice aged butterscotch and an almond flavor with the traditional tart chardonnay grape flavor, but there was a bit of maderization that distracted from the positive flavors in the wine. Still quite drinkable with still some nicely balanced acidity, I enjoyed the bottle by myself after my wife tasted and did not like the flavors . As is – an 82.

I bought this 6 years ago and as an experiment I decided to hold and age this in my natural cellar until it reached 10 years old. Well folks the experiment was a stunning success. I drink 97% red and the whites I do buy are usually consumed immediately so I wanted to try and age a Chard but did not want to invest in Grand Cru burgs so I aged a reputable Napa Chard. Color was a noble brass, way different than any other white I ever had. On the nose was nutmeg and mango. On the palate it was velvet butterscotch with aged dried apricot. I had the pleasure to share this with my Wife's best friend who drinks 100% white wines, usually high-end Cali Chards and it was an eye-opener for her as well. Will have to stash some more Napa Chards and invest in some White Burgs for the cellar.
Towards the end of this nice chardonnay's life. Color is a golden yellow, no brown. Lovely buttery oak nose. Full bodied citrus and acid friut on the palate, oranges, lemons and peaches.

Not bad but I'm not a Chard fan.
