  • Thanksgiving 2023.
    What an amazing wine.
Pours like treacle. Toffee brown with a hint of green.
The nose is extremely intense with roasted nuts, dried fig and dates.
Palate is sweet but not cloying due to the concentrated acid.
Not sure you could ask for much more.

  • Transcendent. Perhaps the single greatest thing I have ever tasted. Scores and tasting notes simply can't do it justice. It is hard to imagine ever finding anything that I would consider better, maybe just equally good and different at best.

Nose- Can smell it from quite a distance, really packs a punch. Bananas foster, burnt caramel, vintage and modern fernet (menthol, cola, earth, oxidation), ethanol, vanilla, cacao, dark dark brownies, play dough?, unbaked cookie dough

Palate- burnt sugar, lemon, raisin obviously, rich chocolate cake, eventual (2+minutes into finish) leather and mushroom. Lemon curd comes out with the eclairs. Too many flavors to list, really. Spectacular color, mouthfeel, and acidity.

Indescriptible, maravilloso y enorme.

  • WTF this is ridiculously good. Murky brown/green coloration with a beyond intense profile. Liquified brown sugar. Stained my Zalto brown. Drink at cellar temp. Sweet but with a crispness of a Greek olive oil. Singular stuff.

  • Spanish wine (Chicago, IL): From half-bottle. Readily outclasses the VORS bunch, even though this doesn't have that legal designation. An incredibly complex and rich nose with a prominent dose of wood (somehow) and plenty of the archetypal dried fruit aromas. Sweet and intense, with a slight Christmas cake note as well. On the palate, this is incredibly thick and sweet, with a lift from the intense acidity and counterbalanced by both the alcohol and some phenolic bitterness. Probably one of the most complex wines I've ever tasted, this is truly a glorious wine and the stuff of legends.
