JD Friday Wine Group - John C host (City Club FW - Wine Room): Served blind - maybe the most confusing wine of the night. I was nowhere near a burgundy. Initial nose was meaty and pungent. It opened to a bit more fruit forward smell, but not anything close or like the WS that came before it. The wine was pretty dark in the glass too, but still transparent. Tannins were high, and it seemed fairly hot. I guessed a right bank bordeaux or super Tuscan trying to emulate bordeaux, just hoping there was merlot in the wine. I was shocked to find out it was a 1er cru burgundy.

Gevrey-Chambertin Abend, Bern; 10/26/2018-10/27/2018: Farbe und Nase sehr ähnlich wie Ross.-Trap., am Gaumen etwas weniger fruchtig, ganz leicht bitterer und astringierender Abgang (20% nicht entrappte Trauben in der Maische). Ich denke, der wird noch besser.

Tasting at Phillipe Lecler Champagne winery, Gevrey-Chambertin, Franc: Flavors of cherries, a bit of tannins, spices. A nice wine, not to go out of the way for.
