Needs time to breath. Then very complex and tangy yet mellowing nose, with some varnish, coffee, walnuts, sun-dried fruit, caramel and a touch of citrus zest and cinnamon, indeed reminding more of boal, rather dark-toned for verdelho. Off-dry to medium sweet with lovely acidity, spicy first, but smooth and lush given time, notes of light roasted coffee, citrus, canned tropical fruit. Wish I had more.

Deep cloudy brown. Complex, mature aromas of cold coffee, dried dates, bitter orange peel, walnuts, creme caramel, mulled wine spice such as cloves and cinnamon, and a lot more. Ample-bodied and perceived as only medium sweet, with viscous texture, powerful acidity, embedded alcohol, and a mighty long finish on the spicy notes. This bottle had been open for three years and was still in splendid shape.

Deep foggy brown with a touch of green. Lots of caramelised sugar on he nose, blind I’d take this to be Boal. Sweet, moderately intense and lovely acidity lending a spine to the lushness. A little drier and less expansive than boal, but still nicely sweet and with a proper density and lip-smacking sucrocity. Lovely. ****

Quick taste. Some VA on the nose, nice honey and citrus notes, rather intense. Good intensity and body, slightly sweetish, but rather fresh, spicy, with good complexity. Very good value.
