Rhys Vineyards Tasting -- Barrel and Bottle (Rhys Vineyards): Some red fruit, and I kept getting peanut butter on the nose (Jeff said he thinks that’s from some reduction). To me it’s not recognizable as zinfandel at this point. With abv in the 13s, this is very low octane by Rockpile standards. Will be interesting to see how this ends up.

(Rhys Alesia Zinfandel Rockpile) Barrel sample - hazy, very dark cherry red color; tart red fruit, tart raspberry, saline nose; very youthful, tart raspberry, saline, mineral, tart cherry palate; medium-plus finish (13.5% alcohol) 91-93+ points
