Really nice new world Sangiovese. Italian versions are some of my favorite wines in the world. This Leonetti is an example of the more full bodied version of the grape. 5 bottles left and will drink many before summer as their wine is no longer peaking.

Friends opened this for a 12/22/17 spaghetti dinner at their house. It had a deep, layered bouquet of floral, cherry, cinnamon, sage, oregano, pepper and spice aromas. The palate was rich, dry and seamless with flavors of cherry, toast, cinnamon, sage, pepper and spice. 92+

Very restrained aromas of red fruit with muted red fruit on the palate. Smooth short finish with noticeable but not overpowering tannins. Very enjoyable wine, however, it didn’t show nearly as well as the bottle we consumed last year. It seems too soon for this wine to be at its best, so maybe it’s just in a dumb phase. Will try another bottle in six months to see how it’s evolving. If we have a similar experience, it will probably signify time to drink the rest.

Perhaps the best new world Sangiovese I've ever had. Very similar to Chianti Classico Gran Selezsone.

The weak 2011 WA vintage shows up here. Too much wood, out of balance. It aspires to Brunello, but it plays out like a grocery store CC with a woodie.
