  Funky, damp cellar smell on opening - reminiscent of an aged wine from the old world. Fruity but muted taste on the palate and displaying no hints of pepper or spice you normally expect from a California Zin. Overall not offensive - but just an average wine. Must have tasted better at the winery in order for me to buy a bottle...
