Gorgeous nose of exotic spice, blue/black fruits and hints of violets. Palate of silky black/blue fruit, black licorice and tar. Finish is long with notes of leather and pure blueberry fruit for balance.

Double decanted 2h prior. Nice nose and colour. Typical Shiraz fruit but with a touch of damson. The 2% Viognier does make a big difference. A very good bottle for the price.

This opaque crimson wine was presented to our tasting group by E.P. in double-blind fashion. Ripe black fruit, vanilla and toasty oak aromas dominate the nose, although there is a hint of bubble gum which is a modest detriment. Full-bodied, round and with medium-weight, sweet tannins, it delivers ripe berry, earth and mineral flavors. Listed as 14.5%, the wine's alcohol stays in check and the middle palate is solid. Concluding smooth and with medium length, this Shiraz is very drinkable now and represents good value. It should be at its best over the next 4-5 years. Drink now-2019.

I’m a big fan of Wirra Wirra wines. This one, like everything of theirs I’ve had, is good. Nose of fruit tea and rose hip, some morello. It’s a lot more perfumed and refined than some Aussie Shiraz I’ve had - maybe that’s the Viognier in it.
Taste: Bitter choc, peppery, full bodied but not a monster. Good long aftertaste, too - lingers fully on the palate thirty seconds. Yet not quite as much definition as I’d have hoped.
On the whole I think well of this wine but I enjoy Wirra Wirra’s Church Block cab sav somewhat more.
