Dissapointing upon pop-and-pour; not enough fruit or acid to compete with the oak, and this is all overlaid by a disconcerting aroma and flavor of Silly Putty, which lingers long after the sip. I'll post an addendum if the wine improves with air.
Addendum: after aeration, some classical Sangiovese flavors of dark cherry, tobacco and forest floor emerge. The Silly Putty flavor is dissipating.
2nd addendum: This continues to improve with additional aeration. Grape stem and chocolate flavors are now revealing themselves. The Silly Putty flavor is gone. The tannins are sweet and fine.
