  • Western Sicily is the world center for growing the ancient Carricante grape which is 95% of this Etna Bianco wine. Pale yellow color with aromas of lemon, lime, meadow flowers, and cilantro. Enters the mouth with the refreshing acidity one would expect from the citrus smell, but adds a surprising touch of velvet texture. The swallow is bright and mouth cleansing. This 7 year old wine shows no hint of oxidation, blandness, or decline, and should remain enjoyable for at least another 3 years. Has a clever label where the "Luci Luci" name looks like red hot lava flows.

  • It would not be fair at all to Al-Cantara to rate this bottle, because we kept it way too long before opening it and by now (6 years on), it has been spent. That said, we would encourage folks to try Luci Luci and many of the other Al-Cantara offerings in their prime, because they are excellent wines! Moreover, if you ever have the opportunity to visit their vineyards on the north slope of Mt. Etna, it is an absolute site to behold. One of our fondest memories of visiting any vineyard anywhere in the world. The volcanic soil is amazing.
