Medium-dark garnet color. Spicy, meaty nose, with aromas of nutmeg and flint. The palate is all ripe berries and the citric, slightly bitter flavor of orange zest. This has punchy acidity and an underlying minerality on the long finish. There is good concentration, but it's a bit rustic currently, not a surprise given the appellation and this wine's relative youth. It would be worth waiting 5 years to see if the elements can coalesce into something more elegant. For now, it must be consumed with food if it is to be consumed at all.

Red fruit with a solid but slghtly thinner core of fruit and earth, finishing with a nice shot of acidity.

Perfumes strawberry aroma, hint of ash?, some spice, with nice tannins and good acid on the finish ( though may be too much acid for some)

A nice step up over the Bourgogne. Light and elegant with good depth. More like a Bize than a Pavelot.
