  • Opened and poured after half an hour in the bottle. Dark core, purple rim, so signs of brown. Flamboyant nose, fruit driven, but also showing complexity with spices, still some vanilla oak. Good mouthfeel, quite big. Again extravagant, with red and darker berries. Very open, feels ready, in the perfect drinking window. Quite long aftertaste, tannins are nicely resolved, you feel the wine is open and soft now.

I think that this shows a lot what one would expect from a modern yet not overdone Rioja. Currently in a great drinking window, exactly how I like wines - tannins softened up, but still fruit is somewhere lingering around.

After two days in vaccuvin more tertiary aromas with more earth and mushroom, but still fine to drink. My last remaining bottle will be opened this year, although this will still be fine for some years. It is just too good to stay away from it right now.

  • Right now it is probably the worst QPR in my cellar. It has structure to last so will leave it alone for five years and see how evolves.
