Enjoyed after two hour decant. Peaked around the 4-5 hour range when tannins softened. Blueberry, oak, tar, and chocolate on the palate. Medium-high acidity. My first Merlot from Southern Italy and this is very different to an aged Right Bank: more tannic, more acidic, and not as smooth and polished. I have two more bottles and will try again in 2-3 years for the oak to hopefully recede a bit more to the background and for the tannins to soften some more. Overall, an enjoyable drink and no regrets opening this one when I did.

Took a couple hours for the tannins to smooth out and let the ripe blueberry elements emerge. Some sweet Oak, touch of tar and dried herbs. No rush on drinking this wine. It should be in prime for for another handful of years.

5 hour slow ox. Mocha blueberry dominates. Some Oak and underbrush, but smooth rich. The weight of the bottle resembles the weight of the wine on the palate.
