Decanted off slight sediment and drunk over the course of a couple hours. Nice spicy, cedary blue-fruit driven, with a black pepper finish. Starting to take on a flavor which I can only describe as "old zin," not tired by any means, but definitely starting to take that long, graceful walk into the sunset.
P&P. This bottle at peak. Bursting nose of extracted red and black berries, excellently balanced, huge and typically delicious Mike Officer palate. Thought this might be more nuanced, but just another great, brambly, somewhat oaked and alcohol laden, full-bodied and lusty Zin. I like the more Petite-oriented wines - more potential later. Same notes, but fading on the second day. Now's the time!
Solid wine; still youthful. Classic Carlsile nose followed by a mid-length attack that hits all the right darker notes. A wine to be savored vs served at a BBQ where it would share the spotlight. Should go another 5 years.
