Pours a deep garnet tinged with purple. Primarily red fruited on the nose with some sweetness present after coaxing.
On the palate, dark red and black fruits. This is a highly structured Zinfandel with high- acidity and noticeable, but unobtrusive, tannins. Medium finish. Somewhat atypical for a CA Zin, there is no sweetness or jamminess -- it's certainly not purple drank. The fruit is bright and somewhat primary at this stage, which is to be expected as the wine was recently bottled.
The fruit is organic and sourced from Dark Horse Vineyard.
This wine would benefit some time in the bottle and should age gracefully through the remainder of the decade.
