☝️It is the only Cuvée in Champagne produced with this extremely rare single variety. 1998 was their 1st vintage. Fruit comes from a vineyard in Venteuil in the Vallee de la Marne. @duvalleroy produce less than 1K btls of this cuvee.
It showed developed amber color. Attack of ripe, even exotic fruits, floral and fully supported by fruity palate. Oxidative style develops with mature cheese and some rot. Surprisingly sweet on the palate which is a signature of Petit Meslier. Not sure about the dosage. It is indicated as Brut. Honey and was final. Definitely a discovery of the night. It was very friendly and inviting. Maybe too much for me.

  • Mature golden colour, but enough bubbles to lift it up. There's exotic fruits, yellow-fruited hard candy, ripe yellow fruits. It is tasty and juicy, develops honey and beeswax notes on the nose and palate. It had this slight oxidative note, but overall retained its juiciness, long finish as well.

  • Not on last legs but certainly quite mature. Overwhelming nose of wild/dried mushrooms and significant raw meat (something like the meat from a CdP and not the fat from say an Alban). Oak was there but very much in the background. Colour remained a light, clear yellow and didn't give away the age. Mousse was acceptable and strong. It would have been interesting to drink this 3 years ago to see what the fruit was like then. Right now this is a big mushroom and meat dinner in a bubbly glass.
