Friend kept this gifted bottle from 2015, until last week. Didn't think it had a chance... But, it turned out to be rather delicious. With the Tempranillo so dominant, and with the 50/50 new and 2year old French oak, this wine has managed to improve since my last sip a decade ago, and gain the usual tertiary characteristics.
This wine, for about $25 CAD, is a steal, and vintages seem to stay consistent, no matter environmental changes. Buy it, drink it was my motto with this wine previously. Apparently it can last a couple of decades ... Or, maybe this was just a special bottle cellared correctly?
Anyway, it's the old adage .. so much wine, so little time!
Tempranillo 85% Garnacha 10% Graciano 5%

A beautifully balanced wine. Lovely aroma of cedar, vanilla and baked cherries. On the palate, ripe plums, currants, black cherries, toast and licorice. The tannins are moderate but persist in the lingering aftertaste. Tannins and a slight acidity suggest that this has another 2 or 3 years in it.

Last bottle of this vintage I have -- drinking very well, still plenty of structure, and an hour of decanting was about adequate. Leather, oak, smoke, and a lovely finish. Wish I had more.

Oak, cherry, oak, leather, oak, tobacco. And oak. Long aftertaste. This wine embodies many of the things I avoid in wine. But I like it. I can't explain....

One dimensional and rather tannic. Not much of a nose. Way past it’s prime
