  This 5 year old has aged impressively well into the best it has been. The color has actually darkened into almost opaque black. The nose is remarkably concentrated and nose filling with rich black cherry and hints of blueberry and pomegranate. The sip is mouth filling, dense, concentrated, and caressing, with an undertow of refreshing acidity and edgeless tannin. The swallow features vivid acidity, savory fruit, and great purity of flavors, which keep you coming back for more.

  Dark ruby but the bottom of the glass remains visible with an inch pour. Was hoping that the wine would darken to opaque black but has not reached that after being open for 3 days. However, the nose is fully flavorful, with strong and inviting violets and black cherry and secondary flavors of pomegranate and allspice. The sip reveals a refreshing and juicy acidity, supporting tannin that is more rounded than astringent, an added blackberry fruit, and a lively texture, all of which can be enjoyed as long as you want by continuing to swish the wine around the mouth. The swallow is a well integrated orchestra of fruit, non-fruit flavors, acid, tannin, and texture, both well balanced and enjoyable. While not as great as the best powerhouse Pinots of Fess Parker, an excellent example of how good the more elegant ones can be.
