PnP out of its semi long slumber at 60 degrees. Feeling a little dirty opening this with spaghetti and meatballs ! The wine is still brutally tight and utterly high toned with intense acidity and minerality. Red fruits, cherries and roses give lift with air as it is opened in the glass A complete wine that remains tight but finishes on fragrant notes. Not sure where this wine is going but it certainly seems like it's just reaching a plateau of fruit Recently had the vielles vignes offerings from this domaine from 1994 and 1998. I have great faith in this winery and love the style. The Calcinaires is a touch lighter in style but well made IMO.

Still strikingly youthful appearance with a medium ruby/purple core and a medium pale purple rim. Medium intense bilberry and plum fruit with herbal notes. Medium bodied on the palate, attractive fresh, youthful purple fruit, mineral notes, light, fine tannins, crackling with lovely fresh acidity, medium length finish with a hint of spice. Very good.

Disappointingly I have never got into these Gauby wines - they have presented to me as lean, mean and difficult. I get some raspberry fruit and now a bit of forest floor, but nothing that suggests generosity of spirit.

Medium/deep ruby/purple core, narrow pale ruby rim. Fresh, still quite youthful nose showing mainly red and black berry fruit and hints of earth. Medium bodied on the palate, fresh, with red and dark berry fruit, spicy mid-palate with hints of earth and even chocolate. Still quite youthful with low/moderate fine tannins and appetising fresh acidity on a good length finish. Not hugely concentrated but still with some medium term (2-3 years) improvement in it. Very good indeed.

Somewhat disappointing - might be slightly past it?
