2013 Post IPNC Tasting of 2004 OR Pinot (Matello Winery): HOLD. This wine was tight. seemed to have good things going on, but it felt like it was just bottled. Was this the wine under screw cap? I can't remember but that would explain my notes.

Post IPNC blind 2004 Oregon Pinot Noir tasting (Matello): Nice mushroom, earthy aromas on the nose with underlying dark cherries. Smells good. On the palate the cherry flavors are most prominent, showing some richness along with figs as the wine finishes. Tannins build as you take more sips, and the wine has good backing acidity.

Dark red fruit nose with lots of earth, some pine and cinnamon spices. Smells great. Rich red fruit palate, pie cherries, mushroom, even a bit of caramel. The finish shows some strong acidity that isn't completely in balance but also isn't harsh. I have some sensitivity to high acid in wines and this is right on the edge of being too much, but for others might be fine considering the rest of the wine. Overall a very nice wine, complex and aging well.
