Colour is medium cherry with a clear meniscus. Bouquet has lots of red fruit based aromas including red current with vine leaf and even a hint of green tomato leaf. On the palate the wine is incredibly well balanced and very fruity with red current, damson plus some ripe tomato flavours. In summary a hugely enjoyable wine showing style and elegance with fruit and leaf in perfect harmony, followed by a clean lengthy finish. What was left the day after opening was even more impressive with added depth, riper fruit and a softer finish.

Light color, very pale ruby in the glass. On the nose I got strawberry, with a secondary aroma of white pepper. Color and aroma like a Burgundy, but that's where the similarity ends. On the palate it was weighty with tongue-coating sweet ripe red fruit. Medium-minus acid - it was partly covered by the fruit but if you paid attention you could notice your mouth salivating. A bit of astringency followed the acid. I assume it's from oak, given that Pinot Noir is thin skinned, but others who know more than me can opine on that. Even though it's from New Zealand, it reminded me of Sonoma Pinot Noirs, something like Nicholson Ranch. I'll have to do a taste-off and see which is better - especially since the Nicholson is $40 or so compared to the $13 for Naked Wines Lay of the Land.
