  Intense dark-fruit flavors such as sour cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant are common in Vranac wines, as are chocolate and dried mint. Secondary aromas such as vanilla and spice are often adopted from the oak during barrel maturation, when tannins soften and become velvety.
  
  Vranac is most commonly found in single-varietal wines but may also be used in blends with Primitivo and other red-grape varieties.
