  • About as opaque as it gets, dark fuby/garnet hue. Its dark black fruit on the nose, pepper, wilted violets, whiffs of vanilla. On the front, black currants/berry, black pepper, a little bell pepper. I do get the caramel thing that FTC wrote about, its real and its there, great call. Interesting and would not have maybe articulated that properly. This thing is very rich and it tastes like it has time left which is surprising for the cost and pedigree. Who knew. Great acidity on the mid-palate to a nice lengthy finish. Day 2 is more the same which might be the one con as its not really developed any added complexity, its strong in its wheelhouse though. Fantastic QPR, and my last one.

  • We thought this wine drank very poorly. Simple, a little sweet, not tasty at all. We poured it down the drain and opened another bottle. $13 with free shipping from Wine Library. Glad we got only 1 bottle. Not recommended.

  • Nice dark ruby color, bluish at the rim. Silky texture. Appealing nose of blackcurrant candy and rock dust. Black fruits, pepper and a little caramel on the attack that give way to redcurrant on the midpalate and the moderately long finish. Soft tannins. Outstanding value at under 10 bucks-- avoids the common pitfalls at this price point of jacked up fruit and oak. Only criticism is its lack of typicity for the varietal and region-- would have guessed a $25-30 zin if not for the lower alcohol level and bright acidity.
