Wow, this is light and elegant for a 1988. Some red and black cherry, earth, gaminess. Faint but distinct horsey/bretty notes, but a walk down a road next to a pasture, not stepping on a cow patty. It’s still a pretty wine, and ready to go. Betsy liked it even more than I did. B+

Mazis-Chambertin Dinner (Sepia - Chicago IL): Open 3 hours before pouring, about 1 hour in decanter. Black fruit with a gamy character and meaty spice. Blackberry flavors with firm structure and great spice of traditionally braised meat. Long and powerful, with a long life ahead. Alas this was my last bottle.

A bit corked. Didn't seem flawed at first, but did after time and especially next to the '93 Ursules, which was drinking great.

Medium bodied. Brick red. Bright rainier cherry, pine, potting soil. Drinking very well.
