Competent entry level madeira. Lacks the subtlty and complexity of vintage juice - and of course, also the price tag. Nose is salty caramel, cocoa, walnuts and dried fruits. Palate is rich and sweet, vanilla and oak notes strong here. Citrus there too. Not blown away - but that's not the point here.

A really complex flavour profile of figs, caramel, a little bitter marmalade, chocolate, toffee, cream and demerara sugar. Spicy, sweet and unctuous with a fine length of finish. Perhaps a little more definition and lift were needed to make this even better. CHP 89 pts

Orange jam, banana bread, gingerbread. Whatever fruit notes there are here; they seem to be baked into bread. Also molasses, nutmeg, cinnamon and a very interesting cooked meat note. It reminds me of spiced rum. Full bodied with a pronounced intensity of both flavors and aromas.

Bottle is open for a week, brown colour, smells of almonds, raisins and smoke, light body, not overly sweet, in the mouth raisins and smoke, a little hot/spirituous, in the aftertaste raisins, a little bit of smoke and acidity, good length (30+ sec), nice Madeira, but nothing special.
