Lights out N. Rhone aromas of black pepper, olive and game. The palate is a bit simple and blackberry fruit-centric. Should hold but don't see this getting much better.

Saturday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Fantastic nose that is very evocative of real Northern Rhône syrah -- black pepper, ripe black fruit, and a little smoke too. The palate is quite juicy and fruit-forward; much more so than its French cousin. It's also somewhat simplistic, with the fruit really the main driver of the show here. There's not the depth and complexity here that amp this up to the next level.

Decanted for an hour. Savory nose of meat, peppery plums and forest floor. Palate is showing well and really nicely balanced. More beefy fruit if you will. Mushrooms and soy. Really nice wine as always.

First up is the Armagh vineyard. Medium-dark ruby color. Aromas of cherry, blackberry, white pepper, dust. Mostly cherry on the palate, with hints of pepper and blueberry. Lacking in texture, body (would call it Medium-Light bodied) and structure. Acid is out of balance, adding distinct citrus notes and tannins are absent.
Feels like this may be fading. Gave 2.5h air, and I think I will drink the last bottle soon, rather than saving it, and will PNP.

COVID-19 "Shelter-in-Place"; 3/17/2020-5/31/2020 (Redwood City, CA): Doing an in-house horizontal "tasting" of two Wind Gap Syrahs, both from 2012 but from different vineyards.
