Especially in the first hour after opening, lovely bouquet of smokey tropical fruit over straw. Some of those notes also on the attack, and also clay mineral and citrus, but this wine was really in and out of my comfort zone for tartness - at times a pickled, puckering quality. Lots of acidity, too much for some but okay for me. Hmm. Had a personality, did enjoy it, but not my favorite Loire chenin.

Radical departure from my last experience, and all for the better. Maybe I drank that bottle too soon from delivery as I recall it being very acidic, enjoyably, but mouth puckering so. This had a wonderful grapefruit palate, with shades of mineral and a touch of richness on the finish. Would love to have more bottles of this.

Those that crave enamel ripping acidity should find the Sec moniker well earned on this guy. The acidity is immediate and impactful, tenacious, and almost astringent but it softens just a tad as it progresses through the mouth to make the experience enjoyably. Do not think of drinking this without food, trust me on this. Good volume and weight on the back half show case soil and minerals, and clearly peg this as Chenin vs of that say Sav Blanc. I’m going to hold my last bottle, not two mention score a few more as this should drink very well for a decade plus.
