The wine's initial nose was tar and orange peel but with air-added perfumed red fruit. It took three hours to open up and bring the fruit out. The mouth is red fruit, plum , and tertiary notes and good minerality. Length was medium, tannins and acidity are medium/medium + The wine paired well with pasta and fresh crushed tomatoes.

Corked! Wah wah! Auction buy! Expensive waste! I'm crying. My Christams Eve bottle! So sucks to have that silly fungus in the cork, right. Why not do like the Australians.
But, heheheh, fungus be damned! I've got backups! Bruno Giacosa!

Clear dark ruby color. Aromas of star anise, Damson plum, rose hips, turned soil and sandalwood. Juicy open notes of plum and braised fig fruit on the palate, secondary depth of wet stone minerality, tea leaf and vanilla spices, and pressed flowers. Fully dense and round middle texture, with nicely complementing and full acidity, and gripping fine tannins. Generous depth and length on the finish. Drinking very well.

Excellent smell, perhaps better in 5 years.

Starting to enter its drinking window with the fruit sweetening and tannins rounding out nicely
